Video Game Design and Development |
By now, most people know that video games have become Very Big Business. Bigger than Hollywood. - How big? The New York Times reported that Grand Theft Auto IV sold 6 million copies during its first week on the market, thereby grossing over $500 million (May 2008).
- How big? An NPD Group press release (31 January 2008) reported that the U.S. market for video games (hardware, software, accessories) generated revenues of almost $18 billion in 2007, a 43 percent increase over the $12.5 billion generated in 2006.
- How big? A press release by Global Industry Analysts, Inc (February 2008) projected that the video game industry's worldwide revenues will exceed $61.9 billion by the year 2012. By contrast, a press release from the Hollywood Reporter (21 May 2008) projected that worldwide revenues for the movie industry will only reach $42 billion in 2011.
In other words, the video game industry offers extraordinary opportunities for people with appropriate talent and training. HUCE is therefore pleased to offer courses that will provide its students with the basic technical skills required for them to launch careers in this rapidly expanding industry.
