Our certified instructors will teach you to apply the ICD–9–CM conventions and outpatient coding guidelines for coding diseases and other conditions/circumstances that cause persons to initiate health care encounters with physicians and outpatient services. New and updated guidelines developed through the cooperation of NCHS, AHIMA, AHA and CMS.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to apply codes ethically and accurately; understand how coding affects provider reimbursement; validate coding accuracy against clinical documentation in the medical record, code diseases/conditions affecting all body systems.

Our certified instructors will teach you how to accurately code diseases and submit clean claims in a physician office by following the official coding guidelines developed through the cooperation of NCHS, AHIMA, AHA and CMS.

Upon Completion of this course students will be able to: accurately apply diagnostic codes to the patient record according to official coding guidelines; validate coding accuracy using clinical information documented in the medical record; and resolve discrepancies between coded data and medical record documentation.

Note: This intensive course cannot be substituted for the more extensive "Basic CPT Coding" course (160-003) by students seeking to satisfy the requirements of HUCE's "Medical Office Professional" certificate program.
