Spanish Language |
In Spanish Levels I and II students will be introduced to basic and intermediate structures of the language along with various aspects of African cultures, literatures, and visual arts in the Americas.
All chapters are divided in three core areas: Communicative Activities and Reading, Vocabulary (thematic vocabulary from the activities, both active and for recognition), and Grammar Explanations and Verification Exercises. Focusing on writing, speaking, listening comprehension, and reading, therefore, will afford language fluency and competence to students with a serious interest in learning Spanish. HUCE also offers a Super Intensive Program where students can become fluent in Spanish in our One Month, Three Month, or Six Month Programs.

Spanish Level I contains three initial Review Sessions of elementary Spanish. In addition, three other chapters are also taught here to allow students to communicate at a Basic Level. Following are the topics studied at this level: Understanding Commands and Items in the Classroom; Introducing and Describing yourself—Telling/Asking names, Greeting and Meeting People; Talking to New Friends and Sharing some of your Personal Preferences, Plans, the Classes you take at the University, your Daily Activities, Favorite Sports, and Personal Data—such as Telephone Number, where you Are from, and your Address; Colors; Numbers; the Human Body; Talking about your Immediate Family and Learning about your Friend’s Immediate Family; How to Express Possession; Places, Countries and Nationalities; Telling friends about what you Are Doing Now; Telling Time and Talking about the Weather; Dates, and Birthdays.
